The 22re that was in it blow up, so I replaced it with an older 91 22re, both are 4x4 and M/transmission. the wireing is just about the same in the two, just the oil sending unit and alternator are different plug ins and injector wire colors haha. when i put the battery post on.. the starter starts clicking and smoking. if i take the starter off engine she will start turning if i put the battery post on. help me please...

 

Swap in the alternator and oil sending unit from the old engine and check all of the wiring to make sure you have it properly hooked up.

 

did it all. everything looks great just making the clicking sound!

 

Is this the original starter or the one from the new engine? Sounds like it has the solenoid stuck on if the starter spins (or tries to) with just the power post connected. Normally you also need to have power to the solenoid terminal as well.

 

it is the original starter. i will try sum more things tomorrow!! don't make sense whats wrong!
