Max Tire Size for 1990 Base 2wd Pickup
Posted in the 89-95 Section, but really should have posted here. My question is the following:
Will a set of 225-65-17's fit on my truck without rubbing? I have the oppertunity to pick up a nice pair of RAV4 17" with nice tires for really cheap. Since I need new tires anyway, and hate the hubcaps over 14" rattlecan black steelies, I figure it'd not be a bad way to go.
I calculate the diameter of my current setup as 25.4, and the new setup as 28.52. Its a increase, but 1.5" would be on the pavement side.
Any thoughts?

it will probably clear while going straight but the biggest problem will be hitting a bump while making a turn. it might rub a little but if it does you could crank up the torsions a few turns and it wont really mess with the ride quality too bad. you might have to remove the inner plastics and flatten the pinch weld down though. you shouldnt have any problems in the rear.
