LSPV '93 pickup

Okay-I was reworking my exhaust and ran into an issue with the LSPV hitting the tailpipe. For a cheap fix, a quick call to a local mechanic yielded an answer of "take it off". So, without further ado, I unbolted it from the axle and cut the bugger off. Now, after a quick search here, it looks like I should not have done that. Any advice? Should I put it back on or leave it?

Thanks

cool-that seems like a good idea-my truck is basically stock and I typically have tools, etc in the back. I guess I won't worry about it too much.
