Question Knock Sensor Worries

2000 Tacoma SR5 PreRunner 3.4 V6. Engine light diagnosis was knock sensor. Had a shop rule out other possibilities and wanted 4 hours of labor to R/R the intake manifold to test sensors. I decided to do this myself. I tested both knock sensors and neither had continuity-good sensor. The knock sensor jump wire tested +continuity. I have purchased a new jump wire, but am I safe to reinstall the knock senors, replace the jump wire. Or is it possible to further check the sensor via scope, resistance or other means prior to reinstalling. I understand they are either good or bad, no in between. Thanks in advance. I would hate to part with nearly $400 if I don't have to.

What does then manual say the Ohms are for the knock sensor? Is it in the range? If it is just continuity, sounds like you are good to go to reinstall at spec for torque. The knock sensors are telling the computer something is not tuned right in the motor. A vibration is happening that should not. Mine always came on at 2200 rpm. A new knock sensor solved it. The one I took off was not the right one for the motor.

The manual states if there is continuity between the prong and the body of the sensor - replace it. Been talking to the dealer and i am feeling confident about reinstalling them with a new wire harness. They say 9/10 its the wire not the harness. Thanks for the reply.
