I think I had a code 43 too on my 01 4Runner and the Yota mechanic at the dealership told me it wass the knock sensors. There are two in my 5vzfe 3.4L V6. I had the dealer replace them. It cost me $1400. ONly one was bad, but I spent the extra 220 for the second sensor and had them replace it. It's a big job to do those in my engine. It's a must though. Runs so much better now.
