Knock sensor cheats

After along time of doing parts and repair other then longblock, I cought up and just got it all going, You wouldnt belive the bad luck Ive had and for that matter still do, Never a single code of what could be wrong, The CEL works, I can sabatage and throw a code but just not naturaly.

Just the second I finally got a taste of a good run around the block and pull into the garage, "CEL!!!!!!" , Code 52, worst 3vz code you could possibly get.

Im broke and tired of fixing stuff on it, If I fix this myself it will only develope another problem and I deffinatly dont want to put any kind of torqing stress on the heads and I could buy a better condition 4runner for what it would cost to take it to the dealer.

Has anyone done a cheat by putting the knocksensor in a different location on a 3vz and got moderate results?

The knock sensor is looked for by the computer for its connection in the wiring circuit...period. It will throw a check engine light if defective or missing. You can put a new cable on at the intake and attach the sensor and the systems electrical requirements are met. It doesn't do anything else until it picks up vibrations its been designed to detect....knocks. If you are at wits end, do this and wrap the sensor in foam to prevent it from detecting knocks and or random vibrations and you are good to go. Let it lay on the intake. Any detonation will not be picked up but if you have none, don't worry any more. If pinging occurs, you will hear it. Use better gas or bump the timing back 2 degrees at a time until it quits.

The wires break all the time, and it's less than $10. The sensor... that rarely fails. Sometimes, but very rarely.
