How hard to put in clutch 87 4runner 22re?

Basically i ve been looking for 1st gen 4runners for a while and found one that needs a clutch. i am 17 and not highly knowledgeable but my dad can help me somewhat. So for those of you that have put them in is it worth it, should i pay a shop or look for a different 4runner with a good clutch thanks.

Well, you have to take the transmission out. Or at least slide it back. It can be done in a weekend with basic hand tools and a jack.

You can get a factory service manual on line that can walk you through it.

you can do a clutch yourself.

a shop is gonna charge you like $500

you can get a clutch kit for much cheaper than that.

When i got my 83, (one in my sig) the clutch was getting soft, so me and a buddy dug in,
It was my first clutch i was leading on and only the second ive done.
It went rather quick if you have someone that knows what their doing,

It took us about 4-5 hours.
The kit cost about 100-ish dollars, with my discount at a local parts store.
Just take you time, do research and have someone help you, Dont try to hulk it down or anything use a floor jack.

If its a good deal go for it. It will get you some know how on your truck which is much better than having to pay someone to do it. :wabbit2:
