Hit something on the highway and lost all my coolant

On my way home tonight someone had lost a chair on the highway and i had to hit a few small pieces. no big deal. got into my driveway and my 86 22-RE runner started billowing coolant smoke out of the motor. popped open the hood to see it smoking and leaking right around the intake manifold. I cant pinpoint the leak because from the time it started smoking till the time my radiator was empty was maybe 2 minutes. I dunno if it was just coincidence or some debris got kicked up and hit something. what do you guys think is my problem? and any tips how to check it?
Thank you!

When you run over something on the road, there is always a chance of something flying up and hitting something and doing some damage, or you might get lucky and its only a bad thermostat. Fill it back up with water and start it up and look for any leaks, if you don`t see any leaks try replacing the thermostat. Let us know what you find. It could also be something as simple as a bad radiator hose.

Fill it up with water. Look under the truck. Fix the leak.

FYI - hot water/coolant makes steam, if you have smoke that indicates something else
