helpp 1981 22 blowing fuses

Does anybody know where the ground wire is for my fuse box. My tail fuse keeps poping even with a bigger amp.

Some facts about the rig you are working on like year, model, etc. would be helpful. It helps improve the responses.

Bigger amp what? Fuse?

1981 pick up long bed 22r 4wd 3in springs 31' mud terrains. Its my tail fuse that controls my dash lights, running lights and lic. Plate light, its rated 15 and ive tryed up to a 25a fuse and it still poped.

Do not put a higher amp fuse in than what is recommended. You run the risk of frying your wiring.
you need to bust out a test light. You have a short some where

Electric is not my best. I would disconnect the harness under the passenger seat. You will lose the fuel guage and tail lights. Then I would install a 15 amp fuse and see if my dash lights still work. If they still work, I would then connect the harness and see if it blows the fuse. What this should do is tell you if the short is in the bed area or the cab area.

The biggest problem I see is stereos and trailer lights being spliced into the harness. I would give them a good checking.

I dont know the first gens as well but think the plug is under the passenger seat.

I found it, it was my side markers. I don't have the fixtures connected and mud was shorting it all out so i choped all the connectors after cleaning and blowing about three other fuses and heat shrinked it. So far so good
Thanks For the help

I think putting larger then rated fuses is a great idea for finding shorts the down side is most of the time the truck is pretty well on fire and the fire company shows up for a good laugh.

Some of Us know vehicle fires make marshmellows and hot Dogs taste so bad you can`t eat them.
