head gaskets

Have not been here for a while for the 90 4Runner was doing ok since its major head job and new injectors.
Son picked me up to go see the "Red Tails" movie Friday and there it was again, That sensation/engine miss that there was a big V8 under the hood with a 1/4 race cam which last time meant Head gasket job.
Is there a permanent fix. Thought this headache was over. Did the piece of paper on the tail pipe and there indeed was a suck back
Kid does not want to part with the truck as also, I do not want to part with 2k either. Any suggestions welcome

I'm assuming this is the 3vz. 90% of premature headgasket failures on this motor are due to improper install. If you had a shop do it, see if they'll warranty it. If you decide to do it yourself, read every word in the FSM relating to headgasket replacement as well as the TSB below.
