My head gasket is leaking on my 97 4Runner 3.4. I did a search here and in one of the posts it mentioned a recall where you can get the head gasket done for free by the stealership. I did another search to find out more but didnt find much. What is this about? How do you find out if your model qualifies under a recall? I went to the Toyota website but I couldnt find anything there about recalls. Can I get my head gasket done for free? Is there any other recalls available? Can someone please point me to where all this info is available?

 

I am interested in this as well My 94 head gasket just went and my dad's 97 tacoma went twice but was recalled and fixed for free.

 

Didn't know that they have a recall for the 3.4 but the do for the 3.0, certain years only.

The obvious way to find out is the call the service department and ask them.
I diid when I picked up my '95 4Runner and they had no problem what so ever checking to see of all the recalls had been done. Have your VIN ready when you call.

No recall on the 3.4 as far as I could find through Toyota.

Definitely on the 3.0. I had a '93 and couldn't keep a gasket in her. Iron block and aluminum heads heated up and cooled off and different rates, expanding and contracting at different rates. This stressed the gasket.
