Head gasket question

Ok I just added a new cam to my truck . Well I had to remove the head bolts to switch the cam out. So when I removed the head bolts I started to lose antifreeze. So i put everything together hoping everything would be ok. But I found oil in the antifreeze.... So on replacing the head gasket do I still have to send the head out to be resurfaced? Just wondering.. Thanx

When you pulled the bolts you let some oil in the antifreeze, change it and keep an eye on the oil, quite possible water in the oil too. Most likely no harm done.

If you ever do a cam change with the head on again, drain the coolant first.

The head gasket is usually stuck on and the weight of the intake and exhaust help hold the head down. Plus you still have the small bolt under the dizzy drive gear in.

I still use some spacers and stick the head bolts back in to hold it down so it doesn't get knocked loose.

Not the recommended way to change a cam but, not everybody wants to pull the head to do it.
