gear help..

gear help..

Hi, I got a 86 pick up 22r 31 tires and, I was wondering What gear ratio will best benefit me? I'ts my daily driver and I Run it at least 100 miles on the freeway, (daily). Any help is greatly appreciate it. Thank you

I believe factory gearing for 31's would be 4.56's.

i am not sure with your motor. Maybe someone with a 22r can chime in

4.56 if you have a manual transmission

4.88 if you have an automatic

When you're offroad, in general, the lower the gears the better. So a 4.88 > 4.56.

When you're on the freeway, the closer the ratio is to stock, the more accurate your speedometer would be. That means 4.10 (on 29") is close to 4.56 (on 31") tires.
