fuel filter

96' tacoma 2.4l straight 4 im looking for tips on replacing my fuel filter. for one im not sure i found it. i got a new one but what i think is it in the truck must be a casing for it. its right in front of the brake fluid res. also i know it holds pressure and i need to relieve it(dont know how to) a buddy said i could clamp the hoses on either side of it with C clamps. we thank you for your time. if you know of any good photos to show the way would be helpful. thank you for your time

If its the same as my 91, your in for a world of hurt as its located directly under the intake on the passenger side. Look through the passenger fender and you will see it.

The fuel filter is under the intake manifold, NOT by the master cylinder. To relieve presure unscrew the gas cap, do not use C-clamps on the fuel lines unless you feel like spending alot of money for new ones. Look inside the passenger side wheel well, there should be an access panel that you can remove to get to the fuel filter, it will also make it alot easier if you remove the right front tire for better access

After replacing one 3 times within 1-2 weeks on the same truck... I got it down... Takes a lil bit of experience on how to twist ur arm/wrist around and where to put the ratchet. lol

I recommend taking off the neg terminal though... as I bout got shocked real bad the first time... left a nice lil black mark on the wrench.... idk what i hit.. but didn't wanna do it again.. took a couple sec to get hand off the wrench and out, as i was under the truck...
You may not have same prob, as it wouldn't surprise me if there was uncovered wire or something... but id be safe.
And if same as a 94 22re, should be able to do most from above...
