Front end vibration

I notice that when I come to a stop, i.e. stop sign/light, the front end of my (1994 4x4 pickup) shudders constantly. If I shift out of "D" while stopped, the vibration subsides. When I am in drive, and resume movement, the vibration goes away, but I cannot be 100% sure I just don't notice it over the regular movement of forward travel.

I see the hood vibrating, feel the steering wheel shaking in my hands, I don't know where to begin troubleshooting this issue.

What do the the rpms read when you are stopped, in D, and the truck is shaking? Does it still shake if you put it in N before you come to a stop? Sounds like your idle is too low.
