Frame Compatibility

I have a 99' 3rzfe
I had the frame checked at a dealer and they knocked two large holes in the frame and sent off the info to Toyota for the 15 year warranty program. Toyota then told me to go pound sand as the service date was a few months prior to the dealer's frame check.

So I am stuck with a rotting frame and a pretty solid 200xxx mile 4 cyl/5speed taco that I am pretty fond of.

I have warehouse space and a lift available to do a frame swap but I am having trouble finding compatible frames.

There is an abundance of 3.0 6cylinder frames but I am unsure if the motor/transmission mounts are easily fabricated or just mount right in.

Can anybody weigh in?

Thanks

Not sure but I would imagine if your doing a frame swap you should have an easier time fabing up the mounts with out the body on it. I am sure someone will chime in soon. Sucks about the attitude from Toyota. Seems a little shocking to me. Good luck.

The pick up frames are nothing like the Tacoma frames.

Just go measure your frame and a pick up frame quite easy to see the difference.

I mean sure you could do it but your fab skills would get a work out and it would be a long project.

Faster and easier to fix what you have.

Unless your just looking to swap your engine into a older truck??

Was there a reason your Tacoma was never looked at??

Its mostly the back half that has rotted, How easy is it to weld plates on to reinforce?
Coming from a somewhat mechanically inclined guy that has time and access to a Arc Welder but no experience welding.

If you don`t know how to weld you will want to burn your truck from be frustrated .

For some one who has done it a day to a afternoon of work depending just what one gets into .

If you have questions feel free to PM me sometimes threads get cycled to the bottom pretty quick

I would suggest finding a friend or someone who will do it for you. I can weld, but no way would I trust my welding for anything that the weight of the truck and suspension is relying on.

The way I learned to do frame swaps was that I could not find a welder to do it as it is a big financial responsibilty for them if the welds seperate and the truck falls a part on the road. No one would touch it due to that reason.
