First time crawler trying to decide
This is my first Toyota and first trail truck. Now that that is out the way, Ihave an 81 truck that I put f150 rear spring pushed back 2".
I am not sure which direction I should go for the front. I have the rear springs to do a RUF, but read that it's beneficial to do a shackle up front setup to minimize the front end unloading when climbing ledges.
Would the extra time and labor be worth it over the simplicity of just throwing on some after market springs or just a hanger with the RUF.
If anyone has insight, my main trail areas are Louisiana and ORV in Arkansas.

are you saying a shackle at each end of the spring? i've seen that with some jeeps.
what size tire? trail-only rig? cross-over steering? the problem with big tires on toyota is hitting the cab fenderwell, even after it's pounded in.
if a second shackle up front allows the front axle to travel further backwards, putting the tire into metal, it's going to be a problem.

The Jeep guys tell me one of their best modifications is to remove the shackle from the front, replace it with a hanger and put the shackle in the back. A lot of people think that Jeep got the shackle up front thing wrong and that it has a bad affect on steering.
