Engine cold start

Need help. I have a 91 pickup with 22re. I have had trouble with a rough idle. Got that issue fixed now having trouble with a cold start to idle. When engine is warm cranks fine. But when engine is cold engine turns over and tries to start. You have to continue to turn engine over. I need some help could it be cold start injector?

Welcome!

You could have a bad cold start injector, but the more likely suspect parts are going to be your cold start injector time switch, or possibly the ECU coolant temperature sensor.

You will need a multimeter to help you determine if your sensors are working correctly.

The fine folks at 22RE Performance created an FAQ page that includes a long crank time when cold problem and includes testing the cold start injector time switch. It is about 2/3 down the page here: https://22reperformance.com/faq-diagnostic-info
