Dual Case - List of Parts
I have a 1987 4Runner 4-Cyl with a topshift t-case behind a W56 5-speed tranny. My tranny is going out and will be replaced. Since I am replacing the tranny, I will also do a couple of other: replace clutch, slave cylinder, and rear main seal.
Since it is down, I would like to do dual t-cases. I have been going through a bunch of threads on dual case and read a couple of things that confused me. Please help me clear it up in my head.
The consistent thing that I read was that the rear t-case needs (mandatory) to be a top shift case. My question is on the front t-case (crawl box). I have read that this needs to be a front shift t-case, but then I see pictures where the front t-case is a topshift Can the front t-case (crawl box) be a top shift t-case? I am thinking yes.
Based on my thinking the alignment of the drivetrain is as follows: engine-clutch-bell housing-tranny-top shift case-dual adapter-top shift case.
Since I want to keep my center console and not lengthen the stock shifter hole, I want to buy the triple stick shift kit.
List of parts I need to do the duals (dual 2.28s, 21-spline) with triple stick is as follows:
1) my rebuilt W56 tranny with my existing topshift case
2) dual adapter kit (Marlin MC07 or Trail-Keeper)
3) 2nd topshift case
4) triple shifter kit and rubber boot (Davez Offroad)
5) Extension cable for speedo and 4wd light
6) Dual case crossmember
7) upgraded t-case mount (kit from 4xinnovations)
8) upgraded rear motor mounts (kit from 4xinnovations)
9) lengthen front drive shaft, shorten rear drive shaft
Anyhing else?
