Dual case install question(s)

I am looking at buying a 1st gen runner and I was thinking about putting dual cases in it next year. On marlin crawlers website it says that driveshaft and floorboard modifications are required. I understand that the driveshaft will need to be shortened due to the extra transfer case being installed. My question is what modifications must be done to the floorboard? Are they talking about cutting to to allow clearance for the second shifter or do you have to modify it to allow the unit itself to clear or what? Thanks for the info.

You just have to cut the hole for the second shifter:

There's plenty of room behind the second shifter

Ok I see your setup has 3 sticks, shifter, hi/lo and the second case. I saw this and wondered what the 4th stick was for or is one just an unused factory.

You can see my blue cup holders between the seats ...

You can see where my e-brake sits and the emptiness behind the cup holder ..

read the shifters, they tell you what they do

rear shifter is twin sticks and front shifter is 4lo n 4 hi .. which would be considered your crawl box.

Well I kinda gathered that lol....I guess what I was wondering was why the picture 89silverpu posted only has 3 shifter and this runner has 4.

89 does not have a twin stick setup. These are 2 different things.

Twin stick allows you to have 2wd high and low and 4wd high and low.

The 2nd T case gives you Low/low and I guess high/low as well.

Here is the fun part...if you have twin sticks and dual cases you can have all sorts of combos of 2wd high, low, high/low, low/low and 4wd high, low, high/low, and low/low.

If I'm thinking correctly.

Nice, thanks for the link. So you can run dual cases and then add twin sticks for even more options.

ok, now for the next question(s). Top shift, forward shift what the difference, how do I know what I need? Also on marlins website they give you the option for a 10 degree rotation...what that for and why would you need or want it?

I may be mistaken here...some of the older tranny's had the shifter connect to the side of the trans and the other more common go straight in the top. I have only see one of the side shifters and I don't recall which thread it was on.

As far as the rotation not sure.

Don't take my word on this though...I'm not 100%

It's ok dude, I didn't know the answers to your questions either. I just "searched" looking for dual twin stick and found the info.

Very easy to do.. it's the button up next to "New Posts" and "Helpful Links"

I could not find the info I was looking for so I just called marlin to ask them. The rotation allows the transfer case to be rotated 10 degrees to keep it away from the rocks.

Yah it raises up the passenger side drop where the front driveshaft connects.

I contemplated dual transfercase, but since this is my daily driver. I'm happy with just a stock gear driven case. The trails will tell me what I need and so far I haven't got stuck.

No lockers either
