I am about to do the clutch on my tacoma. I did it before on my pickup with the one piece driveshaft. My taco has the 2 piece driveshaft. Do I need to pull the whole thing to get the tranny out or can I just remove the short piece between the transfer case and the longer driveshaft. It looks like just four bolts? Thanks

 

I removed it from the transfer case and the carrier bearing and pushed it to the side, leaving it attached to the rear axle. That was after dropping the trans about 2 times. Just pull the whole thing out, only four more bolts IMO.

 

Thanks. When you pulled the whole thing did you even bother disconnecting the pieces or just Unbolting from the carrier?

 

Nope, unbolted the carrier
