Do round/pear shaped heads share bolt pattern?

Do round/pear shaped heads share bolt pattern?
I'm looking for a new head, and all the good deals I've got a line on are pear shaped. I don't have the old head (it's at a machine shop not very close to here)
The exhaust manifold has round ports. But it looks like it had a pear shaped gasket on it.
I know there are some holes in the manifold I'd have to fill, but will it bolt up?
Truck is a '86 2WD, motor was replaced by previous owner (crate motor), block says 22R, valve cover says 22RE (not that that means anything I guess) intake is fuel injection, has squared ports.
EDIT-
OK, I just found the old gasket, it certainly has pear ports. So He must have had a exhaust leak from the holes at the top of the "pear"...

You cannot interchange the two heads. Pear shaped (aka Lightbulb shaped) heads are 85+. The round port are 84-older.
All 22R manifolds have round exhaust holes. The 85+ 22R/RE manifolds have additional holes for the EGR pipe along the top of the manifold.

DC is right you need a 85-95 22R/RE head
The pre 84 heads have compatitabilty issues with the timing chain, block, pistons, and exhaust
I have a Engnbldr pro head with a RV torker low miles (30,000) its a bolt on and go affair I can even throw in a brand new head gasket too
PM me if your interested I am in Tacoma

Ok, did the RE manifold have pear shaped ports, or just round ports with a separate EGR/smog pump bung?
Because when I looked at the manifold, it looked like the holes above each port could have been used for EGR/AIR. There was nothing attached to them on the outside though, but looking at them now, they certainly have had exhaust flowing through them, they're black with carbon. So it looks like the PO took a little Smog stuff off.
Now, as far as round/pear interchange goes, is it something that just doesn't work, like there are leaks, etc, or does it flat not work.
I mean, both my pear shaped gaskets (the old one, and the new one) have the same bolt pattern as the manifold. Does that mean I have the pear shaped bolt pattern?
