Difference Between Chrome & Plastic Bumpers?

Hi guys, I am currently contemplating buying a 1988 Toyota Pick-Up and I've noticed that some came with a chrome grill and bumper and some were plastic. The truck I am looking at has the black plastic bumper. I think the chrome bumpers are a lot sharper looking. I am wondering what the difference is? Is either one more/easier customizable than the other? What do you prefer? Can I buy a chrome grill and bumper and put it on this truck if I want? Thanks for any help and please excuse my newbie-ness.

the bumpers and grills will switch over but as far as customizing goes it depends on what you wanna do, but just think though, metal vs plastic

No 88 toyota truck came with a plastic bumper.
You can find stock aftermarket chrome grills and bumpers on Ebay.

All grills and bumpers that came on 84-88 trucks and 84-89 4runners are interchangeable.
