Denso knock sensors any good for 2nd gen 3vze?
Just got a 2nd gen 4runner with the 3.0 engine. Seems to run ok but is pretty weak power-wise. It has the codes for O2 & knock sensors so I've read tons of threads on the issue. Coming from the world of Jeeps, I'm no stranger to wrenches so I feel confident that I can tackle the job. My question is about the sensors. I see that Denso is well regarded for the O2 sensors & spark plugs, as well as they seem to be a good one for the 3rd gen knock sensors; are they also a good replacement for the 2nd gen? I see that a lot of people more experienced than me recommend the Genuine Toyota part.
I'm not a "cheapo" mechanic, I do believe in buying quality parts, but $100 for a quality brand like Denso vs. $250 for the Toyota part is a huge difference in money that I could use for other items I should replace while I've got the engine apart. So are the Denso's a suitable replacement?
