Red face coolant temp sensor change

ok im trying to install an auto meter water temp, i finally found the coolant sensor, i put in the aftermarked autometer probe, and it would not seal, because i can not get a wrench in to tighten it, i tried needle nose pliers, but it is not enough leverage. and segestions on how to get this done? thanks.

yeah, ive tried both, but the aftermarket auto meter has a tube and sensor coil coming off the probe, and it can not be removed.
