I am in the market right now looking for an 80's model. I have found some nice trucks in my area but they are carb'd and I would prefer one that has EFI. What is the best way to convert from carb to EFI?

 

Best way?? Buy a fuel injected truck, and move everything on it over to your carburetted engine truck.

Fuel injection was available 1984 and up in US sold Hilux trucks. Best to buy a factory built one.

 

Nothing wrong with an EFI swap when the wiring is done well/right.

Swaping the efi parts onto the carbed truck is easy and can be done in a weekend or two. I recommend using the later efi (89-95) over the earlier efi. The wiring is what makes it breaks an efi swap. If wiring is not your thing ORS makes a good 22re swap harness.

The adding of the electric fuel pump can get interesting.

You can go Aftermarket and go with an external pump or get a tank set up for the in tank pump.

Just decide what year engine your going to have get all the assorted parts and engine harness and ECU

Just get a donor truck and bring it home.

If your lucky find some one going from EFI to Carb to swap parts
