hey yall i got some cold start issues on an 88' 4runner 22re. Once the engine is warmed up it catches no problem. however if its the days first start it just turns over but no catch till the 3rd or 4th try. any advice would be great. thanks -eric

 

You could have a bad thermal temperature switch.

 

The things I would check are :cold start injector time switch, cold start injector and what Myyota said , temp switch....
could be just a loose plug Tho.

 

thanks for the replies, i ended up just cleaning the cold start injector switch and it works just fine. however now the engine has an idle variation of about 100-200 rpms. it increases its idle level when @ operating temp, but levels out around 1200 rpms. any advice would be a huge help. thanks!
