Hey guys, so im going to change my spark plugs and the cables too... For the spark plug, i think im supposed to use the ones with the 2 "little arch things" .... which do u guys think is better? which should i use.. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...Z8gctdZ1z0zbux or http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...Z8gctdZ1z0zbv1 Now on the cables... on autozone.com they have these.. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...er=363228_0_0_ but aren't there supposed to be 6 cables instead of 3? For plugs and plug wires, forget about anything from Autozone and go with OEM. You know the OEM plugs will work fine. And as for the cables, the OEM cables install so much easier, fit wise, than anything aftermarket.

I just replaced my plugs and cables for the second time. I orrdered both from toyotapartsales.com and if I recall, the price was around $70 shipped.

Oh, and you only need three wires. The 4Runner has electronic ignition. The passenger side cylinders have the coil thing right on top, with no wires needed. Then three wires run to the drivers side cylinders.

Use the OEM plugs, Denso brand, pregapped. NGK wires are a good wires as well. If you search here a ton of guys use them. The OEM ones I think are a bit over priced.

I think i will do that. Should I, or do you guys think i should replace the 3 ignition coils as well then?

Those are pricey and last a long time if you keep your plugs and wires changed out, dont replace unless they are bad or you've got cash coming out of your ears.

hahahaha ok. Is there a way to test them, or see if they need changing? Cause they have a clip on them, and last time i changed the plugs i accidently broke the little clip everything still runs great, but that little broken clip still bugs the back of my mind lol

It's a great site. We r also wondering how difficult it is to replace plugs on this car, I have done it on other vehicles; can someone help with specific tools and socket wrench size.. im hearing its a slim-line edition.. also must the battery be disconnected..

And replacing with wires is pretty easy when you're gone as far as replacing the plugs already.

hey Mtn Mike.. on the website you gave me, i believe the spark plug brand they use are Denso for $2.26... i found some Ngk Standard Copper for $3.49.

I have people telling me Ngk will be better for my 4runner. Any thoughts from you guys?

There's been some discussion on this site on the difference between the Denso's and the NGKs. I forget what the difference is, but I think you'd be safe to use the NGK's. That's what is spec'd by the dealer.
