i got a 90 4runner with a g58 trans and a forward shift chain driven transfer case. i wanted to know if i can swap my forward shift chain driven transfer case for a 4cyl gear driven top shift transfer case.
can i do this with no modifications? i have an extra 4cyl top shift t-case in my garage. i want to run a twin stick and eventually run duals.

 

When you say "no modifications", what's the limit?

I don't know if they have the same bolt pattern to attach to the tranny, but I do know the shifter will be 4-6" back, and will not come through the floor in the right place. A dogleg shifter can take care of the boot issue, but you will likely need a new hole in the floor.

 

by no modifications, i meant if it will bolt right up. i dont mind cutting a new hole in the floor. my transfer case is a chain drive forward shift and i want to be able to add a dual case or a twin stick.

 

so can i use a twin stick with my transfercase?

 

Technically you could but the mods needed to be done may compromise the entegrity of that link in the chain have you tried a salvage yard yet?
