Body Lift- disadvantages?
I have a 91 PU,22re,5sp with rock sliders on it and want to have the truck painted but the rock sliders are in the way.
I thought if I installed a 2" body lift it would move the cab up enough to paint.
Should I install the lift and return it to stock after paint or just leave it in.
Any disadvantages to running a 2" body lift?

no real disadvantages that i know of, except higher stress on the body mounts, i think i bent a couple so now everytime i hit a decent sized bump (or when i flex..) the body creaks n pops, but other than that working on the truck with it is a breez, plus later you can do a drivtrain lift and flatbelly it i also have a 3" BL

i did a 1" lift. with 2" you are affecting the trans levers through the tunnel into the cab, and possibly ground strap from engine to frame, flexible brake lines, the steering shaft will extend, some other things too i think. use google to search for 2" body lift toyota and you'll get plenty of links back to YT with info. the YT search results aren't as easy to sort through as google search results.
there's no problem doing 2", you just need to check all the things that are going to stretch and make sure they all have the slack they need to do so.
you can do a 1" bl if you want. 4crawler.com sells 'em. that's what i went with.
but hey, if it's just for painting, you cannot get paper between the rock and slider to cover the slider, and just spray from the bottom, then from the top? that's pretty tight. i'd think you'd want a little b.l. just to get some clearance there.
