body lift

ok, I am a lay person when it comes to cars, however I am fixing up an 1988 4 runner just gave the entire body a rhino liner custom paint job, and it only has 90,000 miles on it... I want to put a 2 inch body lift on it.. so i can put some bigger tires on it and give it a meaner look, Can 33's fit in my 4 runner without a lift...?not going to do much off roading and wont use it much on the highway...anyone recommend a type of body lift and do's and don'ts? How much should a mechanic charge to put this on?

A body lift would probably be best. Some people crank the torsion bars up a bit and either shackle lift the rear or do a zuk mod to the rear. The body lift will help maintain road handling manners vs the torsion bar crank will greatly stiffen up your ride. You could also do a ball joint lift on the front end. More complicated but after all is said and done properly they get pretty good reviews. (Ball joint spacers and front diff drop spacer) Then get it realigned. Or torsion bar crank and shackles or zuk mod. Or small body lift. 3 most common options. A good search will find more than you probably every wanted to know on those 3 options. Good luck hope this helps.
