birfs assembly

Ok so I'm losing my ˟˟˟˟˟ here... Finally completing my SFA rebuild and after partially assembling my birfs (cage, sphere, balls etc.) I'm unable to get the axle shafts together - I can't seem to budge it past the clip.
I've tried the following:
- pounding together (Ya I don't believe you when you say this works)
- two small screw drivers
- hose clamp (one I've tried is a bit too big to sit flush in the cage)
- Zip tie - always slips off

So anyone got any new tricks that have worked?! Or am I just ˟˟˟˟in retarded?

Thanks!

Well I'm working without a vice... and solo... will try and find a different hose clamp and get that to work... think Yota could have come up with a better way here!! But, I suppose it works for most.

Hose clamp. There is a few good videos on you tube on the mini truck birf and the land cruiser birf. Same design

So I picked up another hose clamp and still had issues with fitting it flush around the clip - the tightening mechanism was too large to fit my birfs...

Solution was to get extra wide zip ties and modify the pinch thing by filing it so it would sit flush. Success!
