Battery cable broken... fix??

Okay so I'm going out on a limb here and asking a question that might be dumb but heck, I'll ask it.
For sometime now I have had problems starting my runner(1990 4runner 4x4 v6). Anyways, I had the battery replaced and the problems seemed to end. Well a few months ago it happened again, no start unless I got a jump(Which quickly started each and every time). Well I figured I would check on it myself and this is what I found:
The Thick wire that goes to the positive was cut/rigged. As you can see from the picture I posted/found on here. So it doesn't have the big metal bracket if you will that attaches to the terminal(As I have circled here with my keen skills at MS Paint). Sooo after all this, my question is, can I replace this wire or is there a way to purchase that metal piece so that I can install it to the terminal?
Also, without that metal piece attached to the thick wire the install makes it difficult due to it being shorter (Because of the broken/non-existant metal piece)

strip the wire back some get a couple copper lugs take some solder fill the inside of the new triminal about half way now hold it with some pliers heat it with a torch tell the solder melts then jab the wire in and hold it for a few secs

Red face

Why would you use side terminals. i think that is alot of your problem make sure you coat it so it does not corrode

I guess to each his own.

If you are able to get a good solder joint with crimp on lugs i will be amazed
