backspacing-fender flare fit?

Want to push out tires without using 2-3" wheel spacers. Have 3" fender flares and no longer running 33x12.5's. From the searches and getting back spaced on back spacing I think I would need around 6" back spacing, but what I have now and other wheels are about 4". Would it better to go with a smaller spacer and little wider tire then to compensate with back spacing. not sure of any where that sells cheaper steel wheels with lots of back spacing.

You need to decrease the back spacing if you want to push the tires out.
If you have 4" BS try 2.5"-3" back spacing.

Less space between back of wheel and lug holes with less back spacing meaning tire mounting surface is pushed out from hub.

Why don't you just take the fender flares off?

Was thinking about doing that, they are screwed in so id have to patch holes somehow Planning on running bigger/wider tires at some point but need to swap out gears (4.56 to 5.29) and not at that point yet. I got the flares for a good deal by trading my old clutch and trans, so I figured id run em. Had 12.5 wide tires then, running a more narrow tire now.
