ARB or TJM?

Im sure this has been asked before, but I was curious which bull bumper that proved to be better, TJM or ARB? I also dont know if TJM bumpers can have a winch in them, is this possible without customization?

It is absolutly possible to mount a winch in a TJM, I have a T-17 with a Warn XP 9500. (click on my profile for a pic) I really like the less intrusive styling of the TJM, I think "better" is in the eye of the beholder.

www.sonoransteel.com and www.burtmanindustries.com have the best prices and service around.

ARB claim to be airbag approved although the TJM's seem to comply, they simply don't advertise it for liability purposes.

yeah, TJMs can't have winches in them.

oh yeah, that's right they can.
^ one of MANY winched TJMs on this forum.

both are good bumpers.
i went for the TJM cause i like its looks and better approach angle.

some will say that the arb is sturdier than the tjm but i'd say again its all preference. they are both great bumpers. just go for which style you like. personally im a t-15 fan

Yeah its all preference, personally I prefer the look of the ARB, the TJM's have never done it for me... and when I bought my ARB I lived close enough to go pick it up, mucho cheapo shipping

same bumper, different truck

Yeah, it basically comes down to the style you are after and what part of the country you live in. Some prefer the look of the ARB, others the TJM. Personally, I like the look of a TJM.

The ARB facility is located on the West coast and the TJM facility is located on the East coast. You'll save on shipping by ordering the bumper that's closest to you no matter who you order it from.

I live in AL and ordered my TJM from Steve @ www.sonoransteel.com...in AZ. It shipped from the TJM facility located in TN, so shipping wasn't that bad.

Reasons I went w/ Steve: One, he's a great guy to deal w/ and knows his products. Second, if you ever want your TJM modified, he will do it for you if you already purchased it from him.

Good luck on you search. Both are great bumpers

Neither of them have BL brackets... but IIRC the TJM is the easiest to mod....

I've installed both (TJM on my truck and an ARB on a friend's truck).

The ARB had a more stable one piece mount design with more attactment bolts, and doesn't have those stupid bolt-on wings. I noticed the ARB had a better power coat finish too.

The TJM seems to have a little better approach clearance off-road and is easier to modifiy for a small body lift and in my opinion looks a little better (except for the rubber trim stuffed into the gap of those bolt-on wings)

In my pic above I have a 1" BL and I was able to push the bumper up and make it nearly gap-less.

The TJM's have a bit of adjustability in the mounting brackets.

No modification done? I closed the gap on mine too by openning up the adjustment slots more.

Nope. I did not slot the holes, although you can do it. I pushed the bumper up while a buddy tightened everything.

ive got the arb and was also close enough to pick it up direct in WA. mine had a bit of adjustability in it that i was able to have it flush with the grille & headlight trim both stock and with 1.5" BL.

both can be fitted with winches but i think the boxed design of them calles for a laydown style w/ separate and not an integrated solenoid box.

they're both pretty much comparable. tjm has more options (w/o hoops) though..so it all boils down what gives you a bigger hard on when you look at it..and depending on where you shop, price.

i'd pass on both and have a local shop fab one for you....stronger materials and you get exactly what you want for the same price or less.
