I have a couple issues I am hoping to get some direction from other peoples issues and problems. First off the truck has very little throttle/acceleration, the motor will not rev quickly when you burp the peddle. I have pulled open the MAF box, however this truck has a big butterfly, no real MAF. Please help, I have changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor and air and fuel filters. I have just realized that I forgot the pcv valve. I have looked to no avail for any vacuum leaks. One thing I find really weird is that the truck will not stay running without the airbox connected. The other problem I am having is with the Trans slipping out of 1st when we first roll from a stop. Shifts through the other gears no problem. Thanx in advance for any help you can offer.

 

It is normal for the engine to run ONLY with the airbox piped up.

Have you made any tests on, or adjusted the throttle position sensor, or checked the spark timing??

Manual trannies that come out of gear usually will get worse and require transmission overhaul, or replacement unless there is a shifter bushing issue.
