96 big wireing problem or engine light problem

I have a 96 Toyota 4Runner and when I bought the guy had the truck on a I believe 3-in lift and the engine light was on he also had a toddler for abs and some other switch which I don't know what it went to it ran to the engine had a fuse in between the wires and then was connected I believe it was the fog lights. But I have not been able to figure out how to get this engine light off I have done all of the tricks I have replaced the dash cluster which now blinks all the time and I have replaced the neutral safety switch underneath the truck on the passenger side the code was p1780 neutral safety switch I've reset the codes and within a day the engine light comes back on I've tried all the tricks of disconnecting the battery connecting things anything you can find on YouTube to reset the engine light. But still have not been able to get it to go away the wiring throughout the entire truck seems to be really messed up sometimes I have lights sometimes I don't in the back the turn signals the brake lights the running lights things like that someone suggested that there's a box on the right side in the back of the truck behind the panel but I don't want to take anything out till I get some ideas does anybody have a diagram of the wiring for the Toyota 4Runner for a suggestion about the engine light I'm tired of having to pay for a waiver every year and no work gets done. There are lights missing or not working on the Park Drive neutral switch there were you change yours it's an automatic and underneath the driver side seat there is a I believe Security Box I do not think it's hooked up I would like to have that hooked up too.

I was going to fix this truck up really cool looking but I just bought a 89 Toyota 4Runner for the cab comes off the back and I'm going to work on that one but this black one the 96 is my work truck so I want to keep it running good it does run great though one more thing the easier the wiring is to understand for me the better I'm new to all this wiring stuff so pictures names how they work where to get them would be beneficial for me I've never done it before so don't use Big Technical words and the easier you can talk to me about what to do and where to get stuff would be the best way because I won't understand it otherwise

If your check engine light is on, you need to plug in an OBD2 scanner to the scan port under the driver side dash. If you don't have access to a scanner, Autozone and O'reillys will do this for free. I assume you know this since you somehow found a p1780 code, but I was quite stunned when I read that you replaced the dash cluster to try to eliminate the check engine light. That's not at all how that works. The ECU sends the signal to the cluster to turn on the light, so if it's on, it'll be on forever until you fix the root problem, no matter how many times you disconnect the battery or replace clusters.

I did put the truck on the sensor and it read p1780 but when I looked up p1780 one site said it was the cluster the other one said it was the neutral safety Park switch something like that so I replaced that part underneath my truck which still did not get rid of the check engine light. The guy that had the truck that I bought it from he had toddler switches and rewired some things but my problem is is that the engine light just won't go off no matter what and for inspection I have to keep paying for a waiver and I would rather just fix the problem. One of the toddlers was an ABS switch that turned on the ABS on and off I think the other one was something to start the engine and it was bypassing something and still be able to start the engine by pushing the button in to start the truck but that's now been fixed so it starts like it should with the key. I'm just at a loss and also my lights in the back of the truck keep going on and off one time they'll work one time they won't I just wish there was someone near me that knew what they were doing and I could just pay them to run new wiring to everything

This is a picture of what was here when I got it

This of course is what's on the inside of the panel where there's toddlers were I forgot about that little push button thing too
