Question 93 4x4 brakes, can they be modified?

Was wondering if I can change my rear drum brakes to disc brakes on my 93 toyota 4x4.

Unless you have something heavy in the back or are towing, the fronts do 90% of the work, so changing out the rear to disc is going to do very little for you.

I've read about kits that make it possible to swap Toyota or GM discs to the rear (depending on the kit), but they have a serious down-side. They leave no provision for a parking brake. There have been people that have done work arounds, mostly involving an install of a separate parking brake on the tail shaft of the transfer case.

Do a search, there are a few threads about this on the forum.

Rear discs do help if you are off roading. You don't want mud and water filling up your drums. yes it will drain out, but still...
