92 4Runner locker?

I'm thinking about a diff locker for my '92 4Runner 3.0 but I have some questions. How expensive is it and how hard is it to do? I would be using it mostly for mud and snow during hunting season and with all these snow storms we keep having in Colorado.

Welcome!

There are a lot of different options.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f31/locker-faq-43572/

the only type without a performance compromise are the selectables - ARB and Toyota e-locker. An elocker out of a Tacoma will work in your housing with minor mods. Note that a locker is not always the best thing in slick conditions. With both wheels spinning, there is nothing to stabilize the truck and it will slide sideways easier.

Install can be easy (lunchbox type) to better-hire-a-pro (everything else). Now would be the time to regear if you're wanting bigger tires, as the labor is the same.

Be sure to check out www.cottora.org to hook up with some people for 'wheeling!

Thanx. I have no idea why it was moved. I do have two friends who are Toyota mechanics so if I need help I can get them. Where and when I hunt you often need all the help you can get. I'm not looking at bigger tires right now. I just got BFG TA 31s.

well, my .02 worth:
i'm looking as well, and seem to be focusing on the aussie lockers, front and rear. they're relatively inexpensive (240 ea), and you can do the job yourself. search the forums, there's lot of info.

java - I would be wary about putting aussies front and rear on a CO truck - is not going to drive well when you need 4WD on snowy roads

are you thinking rear only, or forget entirely the auto lockers? i'll be honest, i'm more about the snow than the off-road at this point. got myself stuck here a couple of weeks ago foolin around, thought i'd solve that problem, and get off-road capabilities all at once. been looking in earnest, following the threads lately (and searches) to help glean info. caveat: i learned to drive in minnesota with locked diffs, so i know their issues. although, it has been a bit.
actually saw a post you made and was thinking of shooting you a line for more of your opinions, so, without hijacking this post, this thread works for me.
and thanks.
