85 stock axle, biggest tire it can handle
I ve been searching on here for a couple days found a bunch of good info on my new to me rig. But one thing I have not seen yet is how big a tire can an stock 85 axle handle with average wheeling? I wheel the yota at least once a month and i try not to beat the crap out of it, I usually ride with my wife and son. I ve got 33's on it now, it had 36's on it before, can I go to like a 38 or 39 tire with that axle?

Front or rear?
Rear 36-37's but some could twist them, I would upgrad to chromoly like poly performance sells.
Front: 35's
If you are gonna wheel 38-39's get used to fixing broken parts besides axles...

that s kind of what i was thinking. It is the front axle I was referring to. Like I said the guy before me wheeled with 36s and said he never had a problem. He also said that he thought there were longfields in the front. That is not true, but the birfield doesn t look like a stock one. Only thing I can figure is that it has the trail gear "better than stock" birfields. So it sounds like I m gonna be sticking with 35 or 36s until I can upgrade to longfield axles. thanks
