82 w/sbc axle question
first off i need better traction. i have a spool for the rear but not wanting to spend the money for a locker in front but not sure if it will hold up to a spool. also where have you purchased your ring and pinions from. I want to go with the 5.71 due to this is a trail only vehicle. my drivetrain is a 383 stroker small block chevy turbo 350 trans. i run 38.5 tsl. and i do enjoy how narrow the yota axles are on the trails i dont wanna go with chevy due to the extra width. If the yota axles wont hold up to 400ish hp for to long let me know what a good swap is. thanks

It's possible to cut down 60's if your that worried about width. I have a buddy with a 350 in his 84 and he said he's gone through enough axle shafts and R&P's the last few years to pay for a set of 1 tons 5 times over. Not only did he waste a ton of money he missed out on a lot of runs due to being broke all the time. Sure it's doable if you drive it like an old lady but then what's the point?
