I did a bit of searching and didn't turn up a whole lot, also consulted the Toyota Bible v2.0 and it sorta answered my question but not entirely.

I am wondering if the internals of a front diff (ifs) can be swapped into the rear pumpkin. I think k I busted a few teeth off my rear diff and have a spare front diff.

I know the front is a 7.5 and the rear is a 8 but are the internals the same?

Nope. Different parts.

 

Thanks a lot for the article, it says that although being the same gearing its half an inch smaller. Incompatible with the rear diff.

Guess its time to get a locker muahaha
