5.29 gear break in

hey everyone i just had 5.29's professionally installed because i finally got my 37's put on but my question is as far as a gear break in goes iv been driving around at slow speeds never above 45mph for about 2 weeks now and every time i get home the diff will already be really hot to the touch only after a short trip to town not even a 10 minute drive.. is it supposed to be this hot? should i change the oil to something of a better quality for the break in process like lucas diff oil? oh here is a pic of the yota

Check with a inferred temp gun if you think the temp is too hot. Differentials get pretty warm while driving

What did the shop say about break in? I would go by what they said because if a problem arises they can't blame improper break in on your part.

they are always busy and in a hurry so they just printed off the yukon gear break in process and gave that to me he basically told me what the paper said take it easy for the first 500 miles stopping every 10-15 miles to let the diff cool not sure if he just memorized what the paper said but it was almost word for word so im not sure what speeds i can travel and how long without overheating the gears

I would think you'd be fine up to highway speeds in such short runs(10-15 miles). Your not going to overheat them if they were set up correctly.
I would keep an eye on the fluid every few drives (level and for metal shavings)

sounds dumb but to check for shavings i would have to drain the diff oil anyways right because the drain oil magnet will collect most of them? just to be safe i plan on draining and putting better oil anyways in it for this trip could i use royal purle 75w-90 instead of 80w-90?

Yes but if you check it right after driving the shavings will be in all the fluid also (if there is any). Yes that oil should be fine.
