3rd Gen Muffler or Cat Back

Looking for something to make my 02 sound better. What are you guys running? I would like a good deep sound. Do not want the pissed off bumble Bee sound.

I have had V8's with flowmasters and i loved the sound. I left the cats on and it wasnt to loud but the sound deep enough. I put a turbo muffler on my old pathfinder and it sounded like crap. I just want something that is different.

I have a 14" Stainless Magnaflow on my 3rd gen!! Sounds nice and deep!! Magnaflow mufflers don't have baffles, straight through design..

Just keep in mind the shorter the muffler the louder... Stock Mufflers are about 22" Long!

If you do a search you can get tons of other information, there is lots out there.

I am running a Vortex muffler that I got from www.burtmanindustries.com

Very deep, can get kind of loud when you get on it but its not bad.

I have the 18" magnaflow also and like it alot, but if you want a deeper tone you might want to go to the next longer one.

A friend of mine from Borla told me that many of the performance exhausts for companies like Roush and even TRD are designed by Borla, but labelled with the selling companies name. Basically, check out the Borla exhausts, I like the sound i have heard on other vehicles.

if your stock pipes are in good shape no need to spend over $500 bucks on a cat back ..... also BAP412 welcome to yotatech

i've got a '98 so i'm not sure if this will help you with your '02, not sure if the extra cat. has anything to do with the sound but... i bought the TRD cat back and yes it does have a better sound over stock but mostly at low rpms, the sound itself is not as mean as i'd like it to be, and here in iowa it started rusting as soon as i took it out of the box. the muffler itself is stainless but the welds are not, the tubing is not, and the tip is DEFINITELY not. the "TRD" is cut into the tip and mine started rusting immediately, now the chrome is chipping off and it's just one big piece of rust.

however, now that my rant is over, if you live in a nicer climate with little snow and salt and you want just a little bit of deep rumblin', this may be for you. i would go with the magnaflow or flowmaster which is my choice next time.

good luck
patrick
