3.4L cam cap arrow direction?

Hi all, I got a 99 Tacoma v6 for cheap due to a shop installing the headgaskets backwards and telling the owner $2200 later to pound sand! Anyways, I have installed the heads correctly, now I'm on to reinstalling the cams.

The cams were not lined up correctly when I got it, so I wasn't able to put a bolt through the exhaust cams to hold its tension spring(?) in place. Also, the cam caps were all installed on the right cams (ie. all the 'E's were installed on exhaust cams, etc). But some had their arrows pointing towards the firewall, others were pointing towards the front of the car.

I'm having a hard time finding info on which way the arrows should point, and which order the cam caps go in. I come from the Subaru world, and the cam caps would be labeled "L1E, L1I" etc. The arrows on those pointed towards the front of the engine, and the number referred to which cylinder it was for. Pretty easy once you figured it out.

Thanks in advance.
