3.0 noise

Hello! New to Yota Tech. Quick background. 1988 4X4 3.0 5spd. Truck was stolen and recovered. Replaced wheels, tires, cat, alt, dist, radiator, part of fuel line, and various bolts. Got it all back together and theres a knock. 5 cylinders have 180psi and #4 has 150psi with an oilsoaked plug. Run engine with plug out noise goes away. Any ideas?

maybe your piston rod is loose aound the crankshaft. and when the cylinder isnt ignighting its not shooting it onto the crankshaft.

Thats one of my worries. The truck sat for about 9 months while i got the parts. The sound wasnt there b4 it was stolen. I dont know what they might have done with it.The truck wasnt trashed. Its odd that it is something new

that is wierd. i cant think if anything else. dont know how it would get loose though unless they ragged it out really hard. but from what you said they just took parts from it.

A guy was walking with his kid down the rr tracks and saw it in the bushes, He found the papers in the glove box. Called his wife to see if he should call the cops or us. She said call us first. He even came down and showed me exactly where it was. I called the cops to come meet us at the truck so i didnt get stopped when we towed it to my moms house just 10 blocks away. When i got home there was a message on my answering machine from my cops saying that the portland cops found my truck. I guess they wanted some credit or something.

Sounds like valve issues.

Haven't been able to work on truck lately. Was planning to pull the oil pan first cause it's the easiest place to maybe eliminate a bad rod bearing. Next step was to pull the left head to look for problems. Thinking maybe stuck valve?
