I just picked up a 95 4runner 3.0. There is a noticeable clicking or ticking noise that gets louder with higher rpm's. At first I thought it was just a simple exhaust leak, but now I'm not so sure. Could it be timing, or valves. There seems to be good power, but the noise is annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

 

I have a click that doesn't seem to affect my power... turns out it's my alternator.
It's really hard to say what your click is with no real reference audio or video.

Get out a solid metal rod/long screwdriver and put your ear to one end and the other on different parts of your engine till you find it.

 

Thanks it doesn't sound like my alternator. It sounds like it comes from the valve cover. It is not too bad while idling more under acceleration.

 

The injectors on these things seem to be loud. on mine with doors and windows shut no radio on i can hear them clicking. that is untill my tires start to howl

 

same here. my 3.0 has valve/injector noise also. not sure which tho. mine doesnt seem to do it as bad when i accelerate tho.

 

get a nice set of alpine mids, a cerwin vega 12", 1000W amp, you'll never notice it again haha my 3.0 had a tick as well coming from the valvetrain..."you know you own a yota when"
