22re starting/ idling issues
Hello all,
new to the forum and new to toyota's. So I appreciate the help.
Just bought the truck a few weeks ago (94 22re 5-speed). Went out of town and when I came back it ran like crap. Really hard to start. It would crank and crank and crank eventually it would turn over but it would die as soon as you let off the gas. Checked out the fuel pump and it was very weak so I replaced it. But I'm still having similar issues. It really doesn't want to stay started. If you can keep it started and drive around for a few mins it seems to be fine. It will stay idling fine. However, if you shut it off and go to start it a few mins later it will have the same issues. I disconnected the cold start injector to see if that had anything to do with it, and there was no difference. The PCV valve looks brand new.
Any ideas help.
Thanks,

Fuel filter perhaps?
Checked all the fuses - EFI fuse? I once shorted my truck's system by jumping it in reverse at night in the rain....and blew the EFI fuse - it would crank and crank but not start.
That's all I got, sorry!

No the fuel filter is fine. Looks fairly new and I checked the inlet line and the output and there is fuel coming out. The fuses are good. It will start eventually, you just have to keep giving it gas to keep it running until its warmed up.
