2013 Tacoma 4x4 indicator light, low range issue
Hi...
Im new to the site and not really sure where to post this question for the best response, but from what I understand, its a reletively common issue....
I have a 2013 Tacoma with almost 70,000mi on it, that has electric shift 4x4.... in 2 wheel drive everything works fine without issue.... but for about the past year, when I shift to 4-high range, the 4x4 function does work, but the light flashes continually.... and when I try to go into 4-low, nothing changes.. it will not shift into low range at all.
if I have ONLY shifted in to 4-high, and then when I shift back to 2 wheel drive, the light will go out..... BUT if i have turned the switch to 4-low, when I shift back into 2 wheel, the light will continue to flash until the ignition is switched off.... when the ignition is turned back on, the 4x4 light remains off....
I have 2 sensors and a servo unit at the rear of the transfer case, and im not sure how many sensors are on the front axle....
this is not used as an "off road" vehicle and is completely stock.
ive tried all the usual engagement tricks to get it to shift and there is no clunking or clicking as it shifts or tries to shift, so im thinking there must be either a bad sensor or servo motor....
can someone offer a suggestion as to what the issue may be, and where to look for it.... or point me in the direction that could help me figure this out?..... thank you
