2000 4Runner 3.4 random misfire in 1,2,3
I had my 4Runner parked for 8years. My wife had killed it. Or so I thought. I decided to start disassembly and discovered it had blown out a plug and melted the coil pack. I started with a time-sert and put new plugs and a new coil pack on the offending cylinder( #3). The other coil packs are not new.
I also changed the wires.
I drained the gas tank as it had sat for so long. Changed the fuel filter and all the injectors. I changed the valve cover gaskets while I was in there.
I had previously done the water pump, timing belt and radiator.
Vehicle has a new battery. It won’t start unless I pump the throttle. It misses badly while running and dies immediately after releasing from the gas peddle. I thought about moving the coil packs around. But with it missing on 3 cylinders makes it more difficult. If a coil goes. Wouldn’t it misfire both cylinders that the coil pack controls ?
I will do a compression test next.probably check the fuel pressure. But any other suggestions?
It seems strange to have a random miss in 1,2 and 3.
